How to: postpone your hair appointment

With hair salons temporarily closing their doors because of the Coronavirus, many of us are freaking out about their hair. Every day we discover more split ends, we can no longer hide our outgrown roots and our hair feels dry and brittle. But there is no need to panic! Because even though your haircut will be postponed, there are a lot of things you could do at home to keep your hair looking fabulous and healthy – even in times of Covid-19. Read on and discover our 5-step guide on how to keep your hair looking fresh until you’re able to visit the hairdresser again.
1. Wash your hair as little as possible
Have you been planning to wash your hair less frequently for a while now, but you cannot stand the first period of greasy strands? Now is the time to experiment! Try to wash your hair no more than twice a week*.  This way you maintain the natural oils and sebum production of your hair and scalp, resulting in your hair to stay fresh for a longer period of time and look healthy above all. Use a gentle shampoo – free of parabens or sulphates – to cleanse without damaging the hair. Meanwhile, use a dry shampoo to quick fix your greasy hair while adding an instant volume boost.
2. Spend some extra time taking proper care of your hair
Let’s face it: they’re not only downsides of our current stay-at-home situation, it also has its advantages. For example, we have more time for self-care. This includes applying a nourishing hair mask or treatment as a final step in your hair washing routine. When applying, focus mainly on the lengths and ends of your hair – preferably do not massage the product into the scalp as this stimulates sebum production. Tip: if you want to elevate your beauty sleep, try sleeping with a hair mask to treat your hair while you sleep.

4. Temporarily hide your outgrown roots
Are you afraid to dye your hair yourself instead of having it done by the hairdresser? We totally understand. Lucky for you we offer products such as toning hair masks by Christophe Robin and root touch-up sprays by Oribe that will do the trick.

5. Blow out your hair and make it last for days
With blow-dried hair, you feel most feminine and less likely to wash. And let’s be honest: with good hair women can conquer the world. And that’s exactly what we need right now. Don’t forget to prime your hair with a heat protection spray and finish your blow-out with a hair spray that makes your hairstyle last for days.
