4 easy party makeup tips from makeup artist Carla Rep

Festive and stylish - that’s what we’re looking for in our make-up this Holiday season. Makeup artist Carla Rep gives you all the info you need to be prepared for all the parties ahead. Discover her easy-to-manage tips and tricks to turn your everyday makeup into a look with party worthy appeal. 

Beautiful neutral eye makeup always looks great but for the Holidays, we want a bit more sparkle. For this look, I’ve used the wonderful eye-shadow pallets from Pixi that offer such a beautiful range of warm colors - you’ll keep grabbing for them repeatedly! Gold and copper hues are great for that subtle touch of glamour.

Tip 1: use two different tones of eyeshadow in a similar color for a stylish tonal effect. Apply the light color on the eyelid and the darker color in the crease for more dept.

Tip 2: from the ‘Hello Beautiful Face Case’ palette, I’ve used the black eyeshadow as an eyeliner; simply wet a very thin brush, whisk through the eyeshadow and create a thin line just above the lashes. Using eyeshadow creates a powdery finish for a softer loo for a softer look.

If I’d have to name one makeup product that should be in every woman’s beauty case, its highlighter. You can go so many ways with a good highlighter and the result is visible yet subtle. For Nicole, I’ve used Living Luminizer from RMS; this highlighter gives your skin that much sought after healthy-glow look and it’s suitable for all skin tones. Use a modest amount for a perfect daytime look or simply apply an extra layer for a more visible effect in the evenings.

A true party look can’t do without a hint of glitter. With Pixi’s Liquid Eye Fairy Lights you can go all out with glitter or keep it subtle - depending on the look you want. With Nicole I’ve used this eye-makeup product to apply another thin line on the eyelid for a layered effect. This requires a bit of a steady hand, but the result is worth it. Looking for more party appeal? Then use Liquid Fairy Lights on the entire eyelid.

And finally - the lips. They should look irresistible. For Nicole’s lips, I’ve used lipstick by RMS in the color Rapture. This lipstick is super matte with a rich, saturated color - mixing it up with a bit of Dr Lipp makes the effect less matte and more sheer. A great plus: the two combined are a great lip care team.

Tip: adjust the color of your lips to your eye makeup. Striking eye makeup, with a bold colored eyeshadow calls for a subtle lip to balance your look. When your eye makeup looks netural - with only a simple black cat-eye and mascara - then applying a bold fuchsia pink or classic red on your lips is perfect.
