Since 1776, the Spanish Castañer familiy has made espadrilles - what started out as a peasants shoe, has now grown into an iconic style. In 1927 the Castañer company - as it now still exists - is founded, but it's not until the late sixties that the Castañer name skyrocketed, after collaborating with fashion designer Yves St. Laurent.
